Dr Phan Thi Hong Xuan is a Director of Center for ASEAN Human Resources Research and Training at the Social Sciences and Humanities University, Vietnam National University in HCMC. She has been the Dean of Faculty of Urban Studies, Vice Dean of Faculty of Anthropology, HCMC Social Sciences and Humanities; Dean of Faculty of Southeast Asian Studies, HCMC Open University.
In addition, she is the Vice Chairwoman of Association of Anthropology, Unions of Sciences and Technology in HCMC. Chairwoman of Vietnam – ASEAN Friendship Association; Vice Chairwoman of Vietnam – Thailand Friendship Association; Vice Chairwoman of Vietnam – USA Friendship Association, HCMC Union of Friendship Organizations. She also is an advisor to Council of foreign affairs and overseas Vietnamese, Vietnam Fatherland Front in HCMC.
She has got 3 Bachelors of Arts (Southeast Asian Studies, Law and English Linguistics), Master of Arts on Anthropology, PhD on History (Anthropology). She has published 5 books on ASEAN’s people and cultures; over 50 articles on ASEAN + (people, cultures, international relations, tourism, labors, genders, stable development, urbanization, smart cities).
She has supervised 3 PhD. and over 30 MA candidates. She received Prime Minister’s and various awards from Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, President of Vietnam’s Unions of Sciences and technology, President of Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, Minister of Education and Training, President of Vietnam National University, HCMC, for her outstanding performance for consecutive years.
