Open Positions
The Horizon Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences Research (JHSSR) is accepting
applications for Peer Review Board and Editorial Production Team members on a rolling basis. We
hope you will consider applying for one of these positions.
JHSSR is a Gold Open Access and one of the leading journal in Humanities and Social Sciences
research publication in the world. JHSSR is currently published twice a year and accepts fewer than
30% of the approximately 100 manuscripts submitted each year. Our combination of rigorous
peer-review and world-wide representation have been vital to our quality and growth. We are most proud
to be one of the most geographically and culturally diverse journals in the field with 100+ authors
based in 25+ countries around the world.
Our editorial team is engaged with universities in 35 countries across the world including
Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, Fiji, Finland, Germany, India, Iran, Jordon, Lithuania,
Malaysia, Morocco, Nepal, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Portugal,
Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom, USA, and
Vietnam.
Peer Review Board
Reviewers review up to a maximum of three manuscripts per year assigned by the Chief Executive
Editors and/or Associate Editors based on the Reviewer’s interests and expertise. Reviewers have
up to 3 weeks to submit reviews. Reviewers with a doctoral degree with a record of writing and
publication are preferred. We update Peer Review Board members on our website and in journals
annually with a list of all Reviewers who provide timely, detailed, and constructive reviews in line with
the journal's Aims & Scope.
How To Apply
You may apply to serve as a Reviewer at anytime. To apply, complete the reviewer form
here and
send it to [email protected]
with your Bio Statement and Reviewing Interests along with list of
your publications, and a recent photograph. The more keywords you include in your profile, the
better we will be able to match you with appropriate manuscripts. Add at least 5 reviewing interests
topics to your profile including:
- subjects and/or topics areas
- countries, world regions, and/or populations
- general preferences for qualitative and/or quantitative
- specific statistical and/or methodological areas of expertise
- epistemological and/or theoretical perspectives
By adding a few keywords to your profile, you ensure that you will be invited to review manuscripts
that best fit your interests. At any point, you may remove yourself from the journal's list of Reviewers
by sending an email to [email protected]
Editorial Production Team
We also invite those with special copyediting, administrative, social media, graphic design, or
technical skills to serve on our Editorial Production Team as:
- Copy Editors
- Layout & Proofreader
- Social Media
How To Apply
You may volunteer to serve on the Editorial Production Team at anytime. To volunteer, send an
email to our Production Editor, Lucy Fernandez at [email protected] and
[email protected] with the role(s) you would like to offer support. Applications will be reviewed
by current members of the Production Team and notifications will be sent to applicants.
Note: JHSSR is the flagship publication that runs on not-for-profit basis. JHSSR operates through
the voluntary services of board members and editors. Service is an opportunity to engage in a
significant research activity, view research first hand, and participate in the evaluation of scholarly
research. Individuals may use this service towards doctoral degree requirements or faculty tenure
and promotion activities. JHSSR lists board members name and affiliation on our website, as well as
online volumes. Members also receive a free digital volume of the journal. No monetary reward as all
positions in the Journal are unpaid.
