Iyabode Omolara Akewo Nwabueze is a Professor of English (language specialisation). She is currently the Dean of Faculty of Arts, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN). Between 2015/2016, she was a Visiting Scholar at the Department of English, University of Ghana.
She has published in reputable academic journals. She published her text, Introductory Phonetics and Phonology of English, in 2011. It has greatly helped many to master the rudiments of the phonetics and phonology inquiry. She edited a book of readings, Communication and Language Skills (2018) published by CSP, UK. She is also the senior editor for the book: Linguistic Structure, Language Contact and Virtual Communication: A Festschrift for Tayo Lamidi. It received TETFund sponsorship and is currently in press (NOUN Press Ltd). She has also submitted a book for special intervention fund by TETFund titled, What is Psycholinguistics? She is the lead author. She is interested in documenting the Okpe dialect of the Edo language, for which she is currently in search of collaborators. Her ongoing book project, among others, is Communication Theory and Practice.
She is also on the editorial teams of journals, national and international, as well as being a consulting editor for some institutions. She has obtained the NOUN Senate research grants for two consecutive yearsβ2021 and 2022βas the team lead and principal researcher. She also leads different research teams as well as on the writing of the course materials for NOUN at the PG level. She has written two materials in this manner, especially the Psycholinguistics courses at the undergraduate and the Postgraduate levels, and in preparation of two more while she has edited several other materials, with the PG Syntax course being the most recent. The one on the PG Phonology course is in process, with her doing the basic editing while guiding the author in the process. She is also a creative writer with a number of published works to her credit, including Meditations, Just a Little, The Weaker One, Inspired Verses, More than Gold, and so on. She has other manuscripts that are being processed for publication, including a novel.
