Gurcharan Singh Bishen Singh is Associate Professor of Educational Leadership and Management at the University of Nottingham Malaysia. He has more than 30 years of experience in the education field. He pursued his Doctor of Education at the University of Birmingham, UK, specializing in Educational Leadership. He has also completed a degree in law (Bachelor of Jurisprudence) at University Malaya and MSc (Management) at the Northern University of Malaysia. He worked as a Senior Lecturer at the Institut Aminuddin Baki, Ministry of Education Malaysia for almost 20 years. Attained the BA (Hons) from University Malaya, majoring in Malay Studies/Geography. This was followed by the Diploma in Education at Language Institute, in the Teaching of Malay Language.
He conducted various training and lectures in the field of educational leadership and management, communication, and other soft skills, including staff development for protocol and social etiquette for the staff of various public schools and educational institutions. He has also gained experience in the training of educational officers from countries such as Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, and Indonesia. He led the formulation of National Professional Qualification for Educational Leaders (NPQEL) new mode program in 2010. After his tenure with MOE Malaysia, he held the post of Director of OUM Graduate Centre and Programme Coordinator for Master of Education (MEd) program at Cluster of Education and Social Sciences, Open University Malaysia Kuala Lumpur.
