Dr Faraha Nawaz is an Associate Professor of the department of Public Administration, University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. She holds Bachelor of Social Science and Master of Social Science degrees in Public Administration from the same University. She has been awarded PhD degree from Flinders University of South Australia. She was an international fellow of Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs, Brown University, USA and recently she has successfully completed her duties as a Visiting Research Scholar in the Contemporary South Asian Studies Program of School of Interdisciplinary Area Studies of University of Oxford, UK.
Her research interests are on gender equality, poverty, human rights, social justice, gender-based violence, women’s empowerment, women’s in labour market and household economy, NGOs in development, public policy analysis and governance issues. Faraha's research focus is predominately based on South Asia. Her book entitled “Microfinance and Women’s Empowerment: Unpacking the Untold Narratives” has recently been published from Palgrave Macmillan UK. She has published a number of academic papers in reputed national and international journals and book chapters in edited books.

An active member of a number of international professional groups and networks such as NAPSIPAG, ISTR, EROPA, NZSAC, Dev Net, IPPA, and AWID, Dr Nawaz has participated and presented her research papers in various international conferences.
