Dr Harbans Lal is the Ambassador of the Parliament of World Religions. He is Emeritus Professor and Chairman, of the Department of Pharmacology and Neuroscience, at the University North Texas Health Science Center, USA.
He is a member of many national and international organizations serving science, religion, media and civil society including United Nation Association, World Center for Thanks Giving, and Parliament of World Religions. During his career, he published over 500 scholarly papers and 28 books. Guru Nanak Dev University, India, recognized his works with Doctor of Literature (honoris causa) degree, and Anandpur Sahib Foundation by Order of Nishan-e-Khalsa. American College of Neuropsychopharmacology included him in Archives of Medical Discoveries and Society of Neuroscience conferred upon him Outstanding Neuroscientist Award. He serves on editorial boards of several periodicals. Presently, Dr Lal devotes his energies, not only expanding understanding about his faith among his neighbors, but more so bringing together all faith traditions for mutual understanding, acceptance and inter-religious engagement in serving need of our global neighborhood. Those services were recognized by Buddhist, Hindu, Islamic and Judeo-Christian organizations alike.
His research interests are in Neuroscience; Neuropsychopharmacology, Science, Religion, Media, and Literature, Inter-religious engagement- Buddhist, Hindu, Islamic, Sikhism and Judeo-Christian etc.
